“Kollaudierung” of our fish migration screw (FAS) or “Now it’s official!”
The term “Kollaudierung” commonly used in Austria is the official approval of a technical system. Our FAS pilot plant in Pilsing, Austria, passed this test with flying colors and the fish migration screw (FAS) system Rehart/Strasser was conferred full operability from official quarters. Therefore, there was no need for the vertical slot for the fish ladder to be built and the FAS was declared state-of-the-art.
Particularly worthy of emphasis are the impressive fish monitoring results. In the measuring period of five months and despite extreme fluctuations of the water drain, some 5,000 fish and other living organisms such as crabs or insect larvae have used the FAS to get into the headwater of the River Url. The reliable and sophisticated technology of RehartPower hydropower systems –more than 100 systems have been realized – assures easy and safe descent of river inhabitants.
Thus, combined with the FAS, our system complies 100 percent with the passability of transversal structures in running water required by the European Water Framework Directive and is a cost-efficient and most of all excellently operating alternative to common fish ladders.
